19020 2001-09-18 22:21:00 Hi,

This time, I have a problem removing a corrupted file.

Half way through encoding a wma music file to mp3 format, I changed my mind, and hit cancel. The software I was using (DMC Music Converter previously known as Shuffler Music Converter) still created a small corrupted file with an mp3 extensiion.

When ever I try to click-on or select the file, explorer crashes with the following error message:

Explorer has caused an error in XANALYZE.dll etc etc

If I try to delete the file using a DOS-Prompt (I am using ME so cannot boot to dos), I get access denied errors.

If I try to remove it using Iolo's System mechanic, I get the following error:

Sysmechanic has caused an error in KRNL386.dll etc etc

If I try to write over the file by converting another track with the same name, I get the following error message:

dbPowerAmp has caused an error in wma.dll etc etc. Help!

How can I get rid of this pesky file.

19021 2001-09-19 01:57:00 It sounds like you've got a bunch or other programmes tyring to use it.

Hit ctrl-alt-delete and end task everything except esplorer and systray.
Then try again.

Failing that, make a DOS boot disk and delete it from there.

19022 2001-09-19 02:07:00 Thanx b m,

I tried deleting it from safe mode with only explorer running. No help - still comes up with the XANALYZE.dll error. How do I go about making a DOS boot disk?
