19208	2001-09-21 22:26:00	I can get a 16 port 10/100 switch from DSE for $437. I can also get a Cisco switch to do the same job for $4000. Other brands vary from $700 -$2000. Can anyone explain the difference. regards DM	Guest (0)
19209	2001-09-22 04:44:00	hi Don, I'm no switch expert. I guess all the products will perform the same basic task with varing degrees of performance. The more expensive ones may have managed features allowing you configure the flow of data and performance too. I guess it's also similar to network cards; -a realtek brand one may perform well for $30, but you probably wouldn't want to put one in a critical enterprise server. What sort of throughput do you need from your switch? The DSE one may be all you need.	Guest (0)
