The only significance was that National publicly gave a nod and a wink to John Banks as the ACT candidate for Epsom. And we knew that before the pollies even sat down! What an appalling waste of television and newspaper time and effort. There were kids being beaten to death by their parents in NZ while this went on but our high-minded journalists know the real issues didn't they??!! At its core the true issue is that you cannot secretly record third party conversations. The media would love to do so - but it is wrong. The Americans have an expression for illegally obtained evidence - fruit of the poisoned tree. None of it may be used. End of story. |
