| 1256280 | 2012-02-01 21:34:00 | Good to see Mike Hosking getting stuck into the "small town navel-gazing" protest in Christchurch yesterday that was "whining about $68 grand". These protestors should get on and do something positive for their city, if they don't like democracy tough sh*t. Good to see Nick Smith staying out of it as well. Dude, you seriously need a recharge. 1. Most of these protestors are working people and rate payers who have never protested before, not the "rent a crowd" at normal protests. 2. Protesting is democracy, the council doing things without any public consultation is not. 3. Nick Smith has a Govt appointed observer placed in the council (Ex mayor of Nelson I believe), he might not be there in person, but he is hardly staying out of it. |

You and Mike Hosking who is a nasty piece of work anyway are out of tune with popular sentiment on this issue. The CEO is a **** The mayor is a **** The councilors are at each others throats because they arent being led properly by the nincompoop mayor. I cant see why we cant have fresh elections but the commie anderton should not be allowed to stand. Can see a parallel in Auckers. Our idiot mayor was voted in by an undemocratic process in south auckland and counties where people were organized and bused to vote for l brown. These people dont even pay rates only rent but their votes for the ex labor party commie rabble rouser swamped the vote for the people in the central city, West and East Auckland and North harbour. , |

| 1256282 | 2012-02-02 01:59:00 | There was an earlier post inferring a pay scale, starting from Cleaner, ending with CEO / Manager. I find it interesting to observe this trend with businesses, because in the absence of a cleaner (specifically someone keeping the loo and tea-room acceptable for human use), nobody is going to stay at any workplace. If they do stay, it is because some higher paid individual has taken on the cleaning... so why aren't cleaners valued higher in the first place? |

You appear to be supporting the communist line of the Red Reverned here Prefect, that is you think people shouldn't be paid market rates and voters shouldn't get to determine who is the leader (yes they voted for the Mayor). I'm not exactly enthralled with the Wellington mayor - but I recognise the majority wanted her and therefore she can ride her mayoral bike around town for the next three years. I might think our CEO is paid a bit too much - but I could have applied for the job and cut my own salary if I was successful. But looks certainly looks like your commie leanings are starting to show Prefect - at best you're to the left of Jim Anderton at the moment, your new spiritual mentor. |

You suggest the market will be right? The current situation in the world with the banks, would suggest they are not perfect. |

| 1256286 | 2012-02-03 00:16:00 | You suggest the market will be right? The current situation in the world with the banks, would suggest they are not perfect. The market left to its own devices would eliminate badly run banks, that's how it is meant to work. Unfortunately left leaning folk like yourself and Prefect get Governments to prop up the banks because they have foolishly made large investments in them at high risk. You're confusing the market with the management of the banks - bad management should lead to extinction. Yes I know you're thinking now the same should apply at the Christchurch City Council and you're right - so the key is how you determine a public sector manager isn't performing and so far I remain unconvinced it is by some red reverend declaring it to be so. |

If the present situation does't show that the banks left to themselve will go mad and pay themselves obsene money, then I am a Dutchman. |
