1256784 2012-02-01 06:30:00 One careless word cost these two the many hundreds or thousands they spent on their travel.

What's more scary is that the US can detain them indefinitely and without any trial if they can use the terrorist tag so loosely.

Hell, downloading copyrighted material gets you a terrorist tag. Timed to have your hands bound, a bag over your head and locked away in Guantanamo indefinitely for downloading.
A careless word or joke while passing through security is one thing, and travellers are well aware of the lack of any leeway by border staff, but a "private" tweet some time prior to travelling (and being so obviously taken out of context) is stretching the bounds of credibility.

1256785 2012-02-01 07:26:00 America - pfft, who needs them. The land of the ignorant and home of the overweight. Barnabas (4562)

1256787 2012-02-01 20:42:00 I have never found American Immigration "welcoming." When entering America it felt as though we were tolerated, not welcomed.

We went to America, Anaheim in particular, to take our (then) young children to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. The people in the street were always nice and happy to help but I could not say that about the officials, such as the police. Very arrogant. Can't think of many more reasons why we would want to go again. UK and Europe are much more welcoming and interesting places to go.

Anaheim is not part of the US - or it shouldn't be anyway. Stories of knee breakers burning homes and causing all sorts of damages to person who held out and wouldn't sell to Disney are still resounding. I could mention a certain Japanese/American strawberry farmer who lost his two sons to 'strange' accidents, a wife who was raped and their home burned to the ground while the fire department waited for their tires to be inflated before they could roll to the alarm.

I lived in Anaheim for a few years and can honestly say that the police are 'shoot first, don't even bother with questions later' mentality. If you are swarthy complected, you're in trouble.

However, with what might be thought of as an Aussie accent, doors should have been opened wide for you all over the place. Americans love that accent and it gets a free ride for a lot of things. I bet you can even drive on the wrong side of the road and get away with it if you say: "G'day, mate"

They use the word aliens for people from other countries.
How ever their good gun laws and use of the death penalty make up for it.

That's blatantly ignorant. Not every state has a death penalty. Not many states allow citizens to own guns either. However, the illegal aliens own weapons - Mac 10s and bigger. Some gangs even carry BAR 50cal full auto rifles and grenade launchers.

Yeah - don't tease the TSA people.

Sorry to say it - but the US is actually living under Martial Law right now with the Homeland Security Act. The US Constitution is also in abeyance and currently, although allowed as a defense in court, it holds no actual weight.

Just wait until the trench dwellers here finally figure it out.
