It was great to get a floppy drive a few years later! Even though it cost almost as much as the C64 itself

1255976 2012-01-27 09:07:00 I started with the Commodore VIC 20 then ended up buying the C 64. They were good machines in their day. I started with a tape drive which was very slow to load, but who cared, you could do other important things like making a cup of coffee while you were waiting. I saved up and bought a disc drive which was much faster to load and did not give me time to make a coffee. The TV could easily be used as a screen. Programmes were smaller and had less features. 1255978 2012-01-27 19:39:00 I used to own a shop that sold the Sharp home computer which was the equivalent of the C64.

We ran a club and one guy was quite good at teaching Basic.

Those were the days.

They had some really good games for their day.

Eg Frogger ! one day we had about 10 computers with the Frogger opening screen on all of them going "nadeep", "nadeep", "naddep" !

(yes they were Indian frogs)

1255979 2012-01-27 21:00:00 I remember programming in Basic was easy to learn. Commodore also had another type of programme language that consisted of five or six figure digits(0-9) separated by commas. This may have been called 'Machine Language'. This worked faster than Basic. Bobh (5192)
