1255601 2012-01-24 19:47:00 Yup.

If my next one (due August 2012) has a chip and I can get a PIN then I may use it again as the Airpoints were quite good. Is yours a green or gold card??

Going by the pictures, it appears Westpac is the only ones that has the chip
The green card is just direct from AMEX I think . Others have blue .

AMEX's own cards don't get Airpoints other than the (1) exception AMEX Platinum AirNZ card . AMEX gets the AMEX reward points which require $50 for optional membership . Can be transferred to Airpoints at 175 AMEX points = $1 Airpoint Dollar with a $30 (?) admin fee per occasion?

The cards that normally get Airpoints directly is GlobalPlus, ANZ, Kiwibank and maybe a few others . . Flybuys CCs could also transfer to Airpoints as well .

After 15yrs, I've given up on Airpoints . I'll just use the CC/Flybuys and domestic/AU flights and get my domestic rewards . I've joined a diff Star Alliance freq flyer . AirNZ made it too hard . To get AirNZ silver, most airlines could get Platinum let alone Gold . To get one reward flight, you could get 3 flights with someone else and they disallow points to be earned domestically/AU (other than status points) unless you fly Business class . Before they went to Airpoint Dollars, it still wasn't as good as some other airlines but not bad I guess when you had the CC and the Flybuys but now . . . .

1255603 2012-01-25 00:30:00 Is it a show stopper? Or is this a rare occurrence?

First casulty - NZ Post does not support it.
So far for me successful with - Orcon, Shell, Warehouse Stationery. Researched - The Warehouse, Genesis, Paypal. Should be supermarket.

1255604 2012-01-25 05:53:00 It'll take time but my own dentist doesn't support it either. This isn't a franchise business so those might. I am guessing that many individual owner operated cafes, bookshops might support VISA or MC but not AMEX. Not the fast food places cos they normally don't support any CCs at all ....... For me I just use my Kiwibank MC that has no annual fees for backup. It doesn't justify to have two CCs that get reward points - well at least I don't wine and dine frequently enough at those mid level places. Nor at the high end places (!). Nomad (952)
1255605 2012-01-25 07:07:00 Have Amex Hotpoints Gold card - use nothing else unless it isn't accepted by retailer. Get about $900 a year in hotpoints - always good when it comes to Xmas hotpoints spend up. Just got the chip one yesterday - will see if I can get pin put on. Twelvevolts (5457)
