| 1255685 | 2012-01-24 00:12:00 | I thought I'd seen it all when it comes to people doing stupid stuff while driving. Then I read this: www.stuff.co.nz "The mothers were stopped and 'spoken to'". Grrr. They should have been prosecuted! Yet someone safely doing 5k over the limit would have had the book thrown at them. |

| 1255686 | 2012-01-24 00:30:00 | You CAN'T safely do 5 K over the limit. Don't you read the commercials? I am going to suggest that they employ a man with a blue (No red flags under a National Gov't) flag to walk in front of all cars in motion. That should provide even more jobs than the cycleway. NCEA can draw up a suitable curriculum for flag bearers, NZQA can certify the graduates, and NZLTA can issue certificates and arrange recurrent competency checks. Lawyers could be stationed in every culvert of every highway and byway to ensure no cent goes unmolested. If the Flagbearer is an organic eating vegan, carbon credits can be claimed. |

And the women in question were fined $150- more than a speeding ticket for 5k over the limit I might add.. As for the 5k thing, slight exageration perhaps? someone doing 5k overt he limit might get stopped and get a ticket, no book throwing involved. That said I can see a day coming when speed limit signs send a signal to your car which the computer receives and then governs itself making it impossible to speed. One could already ask the question, if the open road speed limit is 100km/h why can the average 2L family car reach speeds approaching or exceeding 200km/h ? |

If they were that stupid to do it in the first place, then they probably shouldn't be on the road at all. |

No I don't read/watch them because I hate all the ads on TV. :) Plus I think it's time they came out with ads telling people how they should be driving and not how they shouldn't be driving - apparently positive messages are more effective. More to the point, if they didn't give out licences out of Weetbix packets, perhaps we wouldn't need the ads on TV in the first place. |

It says: * Clarification: This story originally reported the breastfeeding mothers were driving, based on incorrect information in a police press release. They were in fact passengers in the cars. Presumably they were fined because the infants were not properly restrained. | John H (8) | ||
| 1255692 | 2012-01-24 02:04:00 | WTF!!! . . . police were "further stunned" by the number of small children discovered in foot wells and car boots . Police found a newborn baby in a capsule on the front seat of a vehicle that was fitted with an airbag - in spite of extensive warnings in the vehicle that this was not safe . Perhaps a licence to breed is required: "Your IQ must be this high, before you can have sexual relations with no prophylactic . In addition, you must be able to spell prophylactic and be able to explain what it is . " |
