2001-09-24 10:31:00 | I had an issue with Internet Explorer V5.0 which for no reason while browsing just stops (not hangs) no activity for 30secs to 1 minute, you can click away happily on a link and swap between other software windows and they operate normally back to I.E and click. When the software decides it just starts again, clik away for another 4-5 links and again it will stop, then may only get 1-2 links and again stops. The funny thing is it does not hang and after a time just starts up again. I tried upgrading to next version 5.5 and in fact up to version 6 now but still the issue remains. Search Tech net and not much the wiser. Can anyone offer an answer or sugestion please. Regards Ian and Thanks

2001-09-24 11:05:00 | I had this problem for a while, and I thought it was my modem, but it turns out it was my ISP not having the available bandwidth or whatever, so was just not receiving any signals from them... I'd click and click at a link, then suddenly it'd start working again. Strangely enough, its fine again now, and I haven't changed anything :o)

2001-09-28 06:15:00 | I too had a similar problem to this and it was very frustrating. I downloaded IE6.0 the other day and blow me down but the problem has suddenly stopped happening. Don't know why - I don't think I changed anything other than upgraded to IE6 so perhaps there was some IE setting that had got buggered up that was fixed with the new version. Anyway completely pause free now - thank goodness, I felt like the 'why are we waiting' guy in the ad! BTW not with Zfree or Clear. | Guest (0) | |
2001-09-28 07:07:00 | Thanks Peter. I have also upgraded to IE6 but did not help. Thanks anyway and looks like i am stuck with it until I can find a fix. Regards Ian

2003-06-11 11:26:00 | I have the same problem. Surf away for 4-5 minutes, sometimes less, then all of a sudden IE5 stops for 30secs to 1min, then we're off again. I upgraded to IE6 and used the patches on the latest PCWorld CD - but it's still doing the same thing. It's a damn nuisance when you're bidding on auctions. I've missed out on several because of this. I've reloaded the OS, cleaned the registry, etc, unloaded programs, firewalls etc and checked again - it still does the same thing. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Does anyone know whether formatting the PC and reloading the OS would help?

2003-06-12 01:08:00 | Straka, I think it could be line problem (maybe noise on the line), ISP problem, Modem problem (incorrect drivers), and as a last thing the Software, if you think it's the software try another Browser other than IE to see if it rules that one out, you can try Mozilla, Opera, Netscape or any other ones. If they do the same thing then it's not software at all.
