19236 2001-09-22 11:47:00 Hi, can anyone give me advice on how to set up IP Printing?
So far I have setup 2 Kyocera Network printers with IP addresses. They have built in NIC. Both printers can be pinged from the NT4 Server and from Workstations. TCP/IP Printing Service has been installed and starts automatically. It's the next part that won't work.... I create a new Local Port and give it an IP Address of a Printer, then I install the Printer's Driver. Everything looks OK but it will not print a Test Page. I can Install the printer on a Workstation as a network printer but when I try to print test page nothing happens. When I try to pint from Word 2000, it looks like it is printing but finishes up in the spooler. The printers also have a Monitor Program that detects the Prnters and their IP Addresses OK and shows their status etc, but I cannot add the Monitor, when I click on New Monitor, nothing happens.
I am lost now. Where have I gone wrong. Is there something missing I should be doing?? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

19237 2001-09-22 20:36:00 I'm not sure about NT4, but if this problem was happening in Win98, I would double click the spooler icon and find pause printing on, this always happens by default when I install a new tcp/ip driver. Also frame type needs to be the same on both my printer and nic settings. This could possibly be some help to your situation. Guest (0)

are permissions set?

19239 2001-09-23 00:27:00 hi RB have you checked the event logs?... Guest (0)
19240 2001-09-23 03:15:00 Hi, Thanks for the replies. Both printers are shared with full permissions. There is nothing showing up in the Events Log. Not sure what you mean by 'frame'. ? When the printers are installed, and I choose 'Print a test page' it behaves like it is printing but the 'data' LED on the printer does not light up and it does'nt print. 'Pause Prining' is NOT on. I can't make any sense of the 'monitor' business either! Is there any other kind of port I should be using instead of 'local port' witha designated IP address? Thanks in anticipation. Guest (0)
19241 2001-09-23 07:37:00 Try using LPR Spooler on your NT4 server. I have found this has worked for when printing to an IP address. Guest (0)
