19437 2001-09-26 04:30:00 I have had a nasty encounter with a virus. I've gotten rid of it but lost some files in the process. I am unable to get my printer online because I am missing the Add Printers Wizard.
Does anyone know the name of this file and where it should be installed????
If I can find this out I can reinstall it.
Thanks.

19438 2001-09-26 19:21:00 I don't know where that file is, but you can add a printer through control panel/ add new hardware/ printers. Guest (0)
19439 2001-09-27 01:53:00 That is a really curly question. The Add Printers Wizard is in one of the special folders in My Computer, which are not really folders at all, but link to data in the Registry, except for the Control Panel folder which calls up executable files with .cpl extention in c:\windows\system.
There is no obvious executable for the wizard anywhere unless one of the Press F1 gurus can come up with the answer. It's probable that the registry needs re-building, either by re-installing Windows, or as a remote possibility by using the command: scanreg /fix, from the true DOS prompt, not a DOS window.
I will keep looking as more information is needed about these mysterious special folders.

Cheers

I don't feel so inadequate now. I hunted high and low for a wiz.exe file.
