19811 2001-10-02 06:15:00 is there any way i could find out about my cpu temperature on a windows 95 machine. and also i've overclocked my pentium 75 to a 100 , should i go further 133? 120? 150? what do you experts out there think? Guest (0)
19812 2001-10-02 06:32:00 You are at it again S Y!

Keep it up and you are going to need a new CPU. If you want to keep pushing a P75 you are going to get smoke!

Go get the biggest and best heatsink/fan combination you can buy and that might give you a few hours more to play with.

Alternatively, listen to the advice you are given and post some details about your computer so that you can get informed advice. It seems to me you only hear what you want to hear and I don't see any of the questions that are posted for you answered. It is heaps of fun playing with old computers but if you actually want to use your P75 for anything serious at the end of your games you should fit a good heatsink/fan as I have suggested and quit while you are ahead at 100 mHz.

19813 2001-10-02 08:00:00 Ok i've got a pentium 75 (100) with 32 MB Edo Ram and 850MB hard disk, and some other cards i'm not sure of yet. My motherboard is not sure, that's why i've been asking about how you could find out the m/b model. Guest (0)
19814 2001-10-02 11:14:00 Hi s y
I think maybe you need a broarder outlook. A P75 is fine for internet, wordprocessing etc. but for these things OC to P100 makes little practical difference and will probably shorten the life of your already old processer. If you are doing it for a hobby, use your search engine, look at as many relevant sites as possible become your own expert. There are thousands of sites, newsgroups forums etc waiting with all the stuff you need. All written out clearly and at great length. I am continually suprised by the number of queries that could be answered with a couple of words in a search engine. More specifically I'm pretty sure MBs didn't support cpu temperature checks 'til about P266 HIH

19815 2001-10-03 04:53:00 If you can keep your hand on the cpu while it's running then the temp is fine. If you can't then stand well back. Guest (0)
19816 2001-10-08 02:58:00 The old rule used to be: If touching it causes the map of Texas to be permanently imprinted on your finger tip it was too hot. (Texas Instruments don't make Pentiums, but the idea is still relevant). But when the smoke escapes, it stops working. Guest (0)
