19746 2001-10-01 10:17:00 My Irfanview has the option to open in hex viewer. All I get is a bunch of cryptic stuff which I can't edit, so what's it used for. Guest (0)
19747 2001-10-01 10:51:00 The option enables Files to be read at the binary level then displayed in hexadecimal with ASCII representation.

Used by programmers and developers and nosey people to look/search through the programme code..For specific things..If you had an editor you could modify this code to change the way a programme works..Also handy for seeing files on disks for recovery of lost information or reconstructing damaged files files etc.

19748 2001-10-01 11:31:00 Cheers, obviously a tool which for the most part is way out of my league. However what you said about using a hex editor to help recover lost files sounds interesting so I'll keep that in mind. Guest (0)
