2001-10-06 04:45:00 When I use the disk defragmenter it just keeps running, going from 0% to 1% then back to 0%. I have left it on all night, but it just keeps going. I have stopped all other programmes while it's on, but know better. Guest (0)
2001-10-06 05:02:00 Did you run scandisk first? Guest (0)
2001-10-06 05:27:00 So obviously you have ctrl-Alt-delete so you can close all background programs(except explorer & systray) and close the programs running in systray? Maybe try disabling task manager as well. Guest (0)
2001-10-06 05:28:00 As has been mentioned many times here try running defrag in safemode (f8)? on startup.

Running scandisk beforehand is a good idea too.

2001-10-06 05:43:00 If you had tried all above and still cannot resolve your problem, then you can try to delete Win386.swp under C drive and then try to defragment your hard drive again. It happen to me once and i manage to solve it by delete win386.swp Guest (0)
2001-10-06 07:17:00 I've experienced a similar problem before, windows tells you that a program is trying to access the disk, yet you know that really, it isn't.
Tried 'the three worn off keys'?

2001-10-06 08:39:00 Install the free programme 'ENDITALL' (You can find it on any search engine). Use it before trying Defragg or disc scan and you will find they both run with no problems. Use it any time you need to close all open applications easily. I am surprised that this little gem is not more widely known. Guest (0)
2001-10-06 14:45:00 Hi Scott... I used to have the same prob, and found that if I disabled everything in the systray INCLUDING your anti virus, everything went OK Guest (0)
