20121 2001-10-05 06:31:00 Currently I have Word 2000 installed on one newer machine and Word 97 installed on the older one. Will Word 97 be able to open Word 2000 documents at all? Eg. do things go missing or does it refuse to work altogether?
Cheers in advance

20122 2001-10-05 07:08:00 When you save a file in Word2000, you must save the file as a 'Word 97 Document' in the drop-down list. In doing so, you may lose formatting unique to the newer version of Word. Guest (0)
20123 2001-10-05 07:50:00 Word2000 files are intentially incompatable with word97 (to engourage upgrading).

I've found that 2000 will still break somethings when you save as 97. But it works ok for most things.

20124 2001-10-05 09:12:00 I have NEVER had a problem opening Word 2000 files in Word 97. The files weren't saved as 97 files, they were saved as normal Word 2000 files and just opened in Word 97. Saving in Word 2000 as Word 97 files can lose some stuff, but saving normally as Word 2000 and opening in 97, I've not noticed any changes or losses. Guest (0)
20125 2001-10-09 01:17:00 This oughtta work, but in fact, Word 2000 doesn't give you the option of 'saving as' a Word 97 file. Never mind, files saved in Word 2000 seem to open automatically in 97 anyway. Good luck. Guest (0)
