20414	2001-10-07 05:26:00	absolutely. when you install media player it will ask you what file extensions you want it to associate with. if its already installed, go to 'tools/options and select the files you want it to associate with. cheers;)	Guest (0)
20415	2001-10-07 05:26:00	Firstly, no need to SHOUT. Because each of the players uses a different format, you will need realpayer to play realplayer files, and the same for quicktime and media player. One player can't play them all because they are closed vendor specific formats, and they won't share with compeditors incase they loose market share. Yes its anoying, but there does seem to be some effort to standardise (although MS and Real seem to be ignoring it).	Guest (0)
20416	2001-10-07 05:33:00	Depends what type of file you are trying to open as media player with standard codecs will not be able to do the quicktime files. If you want a specific program to open up a file you can specify this in the file associations. To change the file associations first right click the file and select properties to see what sort of extension it is e.g. letter.mpg has the .mpg extension once you have the extension double click my computer ..view options..file types and look for the extension and you can edit the listing to open with whichever program you prefer. Some operating systems will also give you an 'open with'...if you right click on the file to specify which program to open it with. Hope this helps. Chrs tee-em	Guest (0)
