20734 2001-10-09 10:08:00 I have an Artec Ultima 2000 USB scanner that is creating the following message:- An exception has occurred at 0028:C0030AE6 in VxD____. This was called from 0028: C002F285 in VxD____. The scanner fails to operate and says that it is not connected which it is.
What is causing the problem and how do I fix it. p.s. I have reloaded the software and it still fails.

20735 2001-10-09 11:31:00 You didn't mention what operating system you are using.
Going to the scanners site and getting the latest drivers may help.

20736 2001-10-09 12:53:00 Thanks Mike.
Its a AMD 1ghz athlon, 30 gig hd, 64mb geoforce graphics card, 384mb ram with a 17' monitor.
I have just downloaded the latest drivers and have yet to load them.
The scanner was running perfectly until I loaded Direct X ver 8. maybe that has caused the problem.
regards
Rex

20737 2001-10-09 18:52:00 Probably not, as DirectX relates only to the sound and graphics of the computer Guest (0)
20738 2001-10-14 00:52:00 I had a problem with my canon scanner when I tried to connect and found the following...
The drivers were woefully out of date so I had to update from the manufacturers site

The bios setting for soemthing speed was set wrong...the helpdesk people ran me through cahnging the setting to EPP (whatever that means)
hey presto....It's alive!!
I'm not sure if this will help but hopeully it does
good luck
