20996 2001-10-11 03:48:00 Here's a cool tip for Windows 98, ME or XP: Add Google to your desktop - just right click the following link and click Save target as:

<a href='www.geocities.com

Save it in C:\WINDOWS\Web as Google.HTM. Now add it to your active desktop: Right click the desktop, select active desktop and click 'customize my desktop'. Click Add, No, and type in C:\WINDOWS\Web\Google.HTM in the location box. Now click OK. This looks best on a white desktop background, but you can still have anything you want. Clicking the logo will go to GOOGLE.COM or type your search in the box and click 'Search Google'. A browser window will open and your search results will be displayed.

<HTML><BODY>
<center>
<FORM method=GET action='www.google.com
<TABLE bgcolor='#FFFFFF'><tr><td>
<A HREF='www.google.com
<IMG SRC='www.google.com border='0'
ALT='Google' align='absmiddle'></A>
<INPUT TYPE=text name=q size=25 maxlength=255 value=''>
<INPUT type=submit name=btnG VALUE='Google Search'>
</td></tr></TABLE>
</FORM>
</center>

</BODY>
</HTML>

20997 2001-10-11 05:28:00 Hey George, I was wondering ... With the amount of shameless Google Promos going on lately - are they paying for referrals?

20998 2001-10-11 23:51:00 Excellent tip George. I'm runnng Windows ME and I use Google a lot, so having the search window available right there on the desktop is great way to get to what I need quickly. Good Posting :-) Guest (0)
20999 2001-10-12 06:37:00 Alright, what a great idea, don't know why I didn't think of it. Unfortunately, it sort of ruins my background picture. Is it possible to make the background transparent? And I think your image link may be bad... maybe it's just me. Guest (0)
