20955 2001-10-10 16:47:00 With the old windows, I could put in a password from DOS, making it such that without the password, the HDD cannot be accessed.

How do I do this on Windows ME ? Is there another alternative ? I have created 1 user profile, and have hidden all files in the default profile, but I still do not feel safe.

A little help please. Thank you.

20956 2001-10-10 19:16:00 Hello B.E

On most PC's, press delete when the computer is booting up, this will then give you access to the bios settings, where you can set both a user and supervisor password, to prevent unauthorised access to both the bios and the PC.

20957 2001-10-10 20:33:00 This can still be bypassed by changing jumpers, using a bios master password, or a bios password utility. The only way to completely secure your computer is to have a secure OS such as Win2K and encrypt your hard disk. Guest (0)
