20942 2001-10-10 12:13:00 Any ideas how to set the numlock to on at startup in Winme? The numlock is on in CMOS and putting numlock=on in config.sys didnt seem to do anything. May be a reg setting? Suggestions gratefully received :-)

cheers

20943 2001-10-10 21:02:00 In Windows 95/98 you could add the line NUMLOCK=OFF
in config.sys. Unfortunately, Windows ME bypasses config.sys.

In Windows ME you will have to edit the registry (Start / Run / type Regedit). To make this setting work, open your registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ ControlPanel \ Microsoft \ Input Devices. Right-click on Input Devices, then select New, Key. Name the new key Keyboard. Highlight Keyboard, right-click on it, then click New, String Value. Name it NumLock. Enter ON as the value to turn the NumLock key on or OFF to turn it off.

20944 2001-10-11 07:13:00 Thanks Tristan, but unfortunately that didnt work.
Who would have thought a simple environment setting like this would be so hard to fathom - it's not even a TweakUI option. Thanks anyways for the help.
