1280650 2012-06-09 01:53:00 Hello,

I'm a new user on these Forums - just signed up to post a simple enquiry about pricing plans for naked DSL.

So I created a thread well over half-an-hour ago, and it's since vanished into a black hole, with a message saying something about it having to be approved by a Site Moderator first.

I've been using Internet Forums for well over a decade and can't recall ever having a thread vanish like that ... it creates a very sour first impression of a site, when your first experience is complete denial of access to the facilities! It's like walking into a car dealership with a view to spending some money, and being completely ignored - it's just feels incredibly rude.

So you can delete my thread and my account - I'll post on the TradeMe Computer or GamePlanet Forums instead - at least they don't assume you're a spammer before you've even said anything!

And I certainly won't be coming back here again, I shall instead post about my experience here so other people know how you treat new users.

1280652 2012-06-09 02:12:00 Go join the know-it-alls on Trademe, you'll feel right at home there. How can you have been on forums for over a decade when going by your attitude, I'd say you're about 5 yrs old (and spoilt). Good luck. Iantech (16386)
1280653 2012-06-09 02:17:00 Been on internet forums for a decade? With that attitude? LOL

Seriously, with that attitude trademe are welcome to you.
And, I think your view on the forums are flawed. I joined to have an question answered as well, and found the other members very helpful. As you'll see, I have stayed due to the positive first experience and realisation that I can probably be helpful as well as helped.

1280654 2012-06-09 02:27:00 Thanks guys for your friendly and helpful remarks - I can tell that you're a credit to the community here, a real asset.

But seeing as my first thread vanished, I assumed this one would too, and that it would be directed to the Site Moderators like the first one was. So I expected this one to be a private a communication to the Site Admin.

So why then was my first thread denied - I suppose they thought it was advertising, but it's actually a genuine enquiry.

Anyway, here was my original post:

Naked Broadband pricing

We're switching to naked DSL and were wondering why Xnet charges a lot more than other providers - is it because their service / support is considered vastly superior or something ...? Thanks for your thoughts!

Telstra: 20Gb for $56 per month
Vodafone: 20Gb for $55 per month
Xnet: 5Gb for $65 per month

1280655 2012-06-09 02:31:00 So I created a thread well over half-an-hour ago, and it's since vanished into a black hole, with a message saying something about it having to be approved by a Site Moderator first.

May seem harsh but we are pretty spam free as a result and unlike TM the forum is generally pleasant and flame free too.

Anyway, as to the query, I personally can't give you a recommendation, what about GeekZone? Lot's of ISP reviews and comments over there, if no-one else here has any...

1280656 2012-06-09 02:32:00 That's probably the auto spam moderation plugin. It can be tetchy but it's certainly stopped the spammers.
It can be kind of irritating to deal with that sort of thing for both the users and the mods, so I'd happily wait for the couple of mods to come around and sort it than deal with 'buy smartphones and viagra and win money here' on a daily basis.

1280657 2012-06-09 02:43:00 Thanks very much 8ftmetalhaed for the helpful response! As for the you other guy's friendly and helpful replies - I can see you're all a credit to the community here, a real asset.

But because my first thread was redirected to Site Admin and then vanished, I of course assumed this one would go the same way, so this one was actually intended to be a private communication to the Site Admin - not an opportunity for folk to form a lynchmob!

So this gets posted, and my first thread got denied - how bizarre! Presumably because someone decided the first one was advertising, when in fact it was a genuine enquiry. Anyway, here was the original post that Site Admin have for some reason refused to allow:

1280658 2012-06-09 02:46:00 with a message saying something about it having to be approved by a Site Moderator first.
Yup, the post got moderated, as-did your second post in this thread. You've listed three links which immediately flags the system to believe you're spamming, even though you managed to get past the CAPTCHA and the SFS plugins.

Personally I would have thought that would be self-explanatory. That, and you couldn't even wait half an hour? The moderators have lives outside of these forums, we don't get paid to do this. There was absolutely zero need for you to get on your high horse like you did, clearly changing to Naked DSL can wait a little bit. I promise the world won't come crashing down around you if you don't decide right this very instant who to change to for your DSL.

Carry on the discussion in the original thread here:

1280659 2012-06-09 02:49:00 Every post I make re my genuine enquiry regarding Naked DSL is diverted for approval, but in the meantime it's OK apparently for every man and his dog to post snarky remarks and abuse - no moderation required for those kinds of posts evidently!

What a very peculiar way to administer a Forum!

Anyway, I give up trying to discuss anything here - so bye-bye guys!
