Honestly, eat whatever food you want, if you're eating in a calorie deficit (eating less than you burn) then you will lose weight . Anyway, a formula (nice and easy) you can all use . I find most people won't take this advice anyway . Yes . Diets, as such, are temporary . You need to eat less - forever . Formula - nah, just eat less than you are now . Don't go mad and cut out heaps, you won't sustain it, adjust it down a bit and see how you go . Forever . No, most people don't . Did I mention it has to be forever? That's why . . . |

Do you plan to lose weight.... for the rest of your life? You eat in a deficit until you are happy with your weight then eat at maintenance. Feel free to not use the formula and guess everything. Enjoy either not losing weight or losing weight too quickly. Oh, and the possibility of not hitting your macronutrient requirements. I'm currently putting ON weight. Do I just eat more and see how I go? No, I eat the right amount of calories/proteins/fats for me. Is it a hassle? No. |

| 1257759 | 2012-02-08 22:41:00 | Surely at the point where you have lost enough weight you would then want to start eating the same energy as you needed, rather than less, or you would keep losing weight until you were a skeleton?] EDIT: Should have reloaded the page... |

Water weight most likely :) And you realise you've put on 2kg over 3 weeks? What's special about that? |

| 1257764 | 2012-02-09 03:17:00 | Until I was in my mid 20's I couldn't put on weight, the eating habits stuck but the body slowed down. Now I struggle to lose weight, mainly because I get lazier with age and love to eat. I try now and then to do something about it, the forever thing is what screws it up. There is a limit to how fat I will allow myself to get, at least I hope there is, but I'd rather be overweight and happy than thin and miserable. I don't believe the "speed " of your metabolism has anything to do with it, as already mentioned in great detail it's just about burning as much or more calories than you consume. The insidious thing for me is the slowness of it, I've never put on any significant amount of weight in a short period of time, it's taken me almost 20 years to accumulate what I estimate as 30 extra kgs. (Dunno my Ideal weight and don't care, 100ish kg is where I'd be happy, currently 130kg and 197cm tall) |
