| 1279624 | 2012-06-06 03:52:00 | Another thing is; what players are you using? Because I can tell you that quicktime is a pain in the ass, and WMP is pretty meh and has nasty filters and such. Windows media player classic/home theatre with the K-lite codec pack is brilliant. And don't go VLC either, I've been lectured by an anime loving video buff as to why that sucks for too many reasons to list. I now agree with him. My laptop struggled to play MKV files using MKV player at times, wheras MPCHC and klite work far more smoothly. As for everything else yes just get something that'll run what you want then start saving for a bigger rig. |

| 1279625 | 2012-06-06 08:20:00 | I know - have always hated quicktime. I normally just use WMP because it normally does everything I need, I use VLC though whenever I have a video that WMP won't play - VLC seems tto play anything! Have seen VLC recommended so many times as it is lightweight and fast. Be interested to know why you are not keen on it now? Cheers though - am just downloading MP classic & k-lite codecs now :-) is it based on WINDOWS media player or just has same name? |

| 1279626 | 2012-06-06 09:04:00 | Wow! Thanks for that metalhaed, my videos are now watchable, still a bit of stuttering but can't believe the difference! I hadn't even considered that a new player could fix that issue after seeing VLC player recommended so many times for it's speed. And a mate who knows a lot more about computers than me told me "yeah HD videos do require a bit of grunt to play nicely, you'll need a video card". I quite like a blast on the old GTR2 though so will still get one, think this 6770 should do the trick... www.trademe.co.nz |

I'm running a 5770 and I've got a pretty low-mid range PSU, not had any issues but I would not go lower unless I wanted things to start shorting. | 8ftmetalhaed (14526) | ||
