1257465 2012-02-06 09:28:00 However I may need a tablet in year 13, and dad won't get me a decent one so if i put the money towards that then I could get a really good one (I'm in yr 11 now). And by that time win 8 and later androids will be out. However chill, The transformer is a good option if that sort of thing is still around because of the laptop capabilities skeptile2 (16539)

1257468 2012-02-07 18:26:00 Galaxy S, I still have that as a backup Telecom phone at the moment (Was the i9000T). Chilling_Silence (9)
1257469 2012-02-07 19:56:00 "backup Telecom" is a bit redundant isn't it? Isn't Telecom already infinitely retarded? ;) R2x1 (4628)
1257470 2012-02-07 23:48:00 Ha, funny guy ;)
No we've stuck with them because the XT network speed and coverage blows away the competition.

Anyway it's not so much for me, my Galaxy Nexus is kick-ass, an awesome all around phone, and I can't wait to have more of a play with NFC when my blank tokens / chips / whatever they are arrive later this week. Wifey is still rockin' my old Nexus One and doesn't seem to want an upgrade, even though I've offered her a Galaxy Nexus as well?!

1257472 2012-02-13 09:56:00 Sooo...my 16yr son has suddenly noticed tablets - so he wants one. Personally I think an netbook would be better but what do I know? :D Whats the advantage of the more expensive keyboard Transformer? Other tablets? He's going to pay for this himself so I want to help him make a good decision. Frankly his PS3 does everything he wants with household pcs for the rest. And he can't afford a 3G contract. 1257473 2012-02-13 10:14:00 sorry to be anti climatic.... but if you've got $500, why don't you buy a $100 phone and then grab some friends and spend the remaining $400 on a road trip or something to that effect? forrest44 (754)
1257474 2012-02-13 18:21:00 The Transformer has a glass touchscreen, reinforced glass (I don't think it's "Gorilla Glass" but an alternative brand) so it won't scratch. The flash memory is significantly "safer" to lug around than a HDD, although much smaller in terms of capacity too. The battery life is significantly better, great for lugging around High-school / Uni etc where you're not always guaranteed a power socket. I know that when I was at Uni there was always mini-brawls over who got the power sockets, even WITH me bringing my 4-way power board.
Wifi works fine on the Transformer, in fact I've not seen any 3G models available here.

What else would he be using it for ?
