1280464 2012-06-07 22:03:00 Our bband has been dropping out for the last 3 weeks, once a week. Happened again last night, and the tech from Xnet wondered if is my router. Dynalink RTA1025W.

I think it's our line down our road.Had a fair amount of problems in the past. I have a direct feed from the inbox on our house to pc.

Anyhow, a while ago this router was suggested as a good one in a long posting by Chilling Silence. The NetComm NB6Plus4Wn. Would you still recommend this Chill, or has your thinking changed ?

Thought I might grab one as backup in case he's right. It'll go with the new UPS I had to buy as the old one karked it!
Thanks.

1280465 2012-06-07 22:47:00 I bought one of those on chills reccomendation and it's been very reliable. dugimodo (138)
1280466 2012-06-07 22:47:00 Absolutely. Just be sure it's the N version, not the G version. The N version has double the RAM, a faster CPU, and more reliable firmware. Any issues are people being cheap and getting the G version ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1280467 2012-06-07 23:18:00 Thanks Chill. It's just cut off again.Ascent have 3 of these listed, very confusing. Any ides if they're all the same?

1280469 2012-06-08 00:58:00 I got myself a Draytek Vigour (I think that's how it's spelt) a few months ago. Hasn't dropped out even once. Has 4 port switch built in (can also get same with wireless). ADSL2+ compatible.
Got it from Paradigm Computers.

1280470 2012-06-08 01:38:00 Yeh I'm a *big* fan of the Vigor stuff (As you'll notice on my blog) as well. However, it's a fair bit more expensive. My non-Wifi VDSL2 DV2750 cost me a few hundred bucks, let alone adding on Wifi... That said it's a pretty damn choice router! :D Chilling_Silence (9)
1280471 2012-06-08 03:11:00 Thanks everyone. Are you saying that one of these www.pp.co.nz will be a better long term buy than the NetComm NB6Plus4Wn.
Easy enough to configure?

Just borrowed another 1025 so must plug it in now!

1280472 2012-06-08 03:26:00 Well,that didn't hurt too much! Neil McC (178)
1280473 2012-06-08 03:35:00 The DrayTek products are brilliant, imo, but their interface is a little less user-friendly, and they are comparatively expensive. inphinity (7274)
