1279704 2012-06-05 02:02:00 For inkjets, not too sure about maps and docs. But in the photo world - Epson might still be leaders. Like the R2880, Canon and HP is also good too, you may get away with a cheaper one than a R2880 though Epson has one forget the model #.

For maps and doc laser might be more approp. Inkjet also consumes more ink.

Where I worked before, we did map and documents. It was a multi million project, they used lasers and or outsourced some of their photocopying jobs too ..... HP was what we used. Fuji Xerox, Minolta, Canon were others ...

1279705 2012-06-05 02:06:00 Thank you
I will look at a laser as well just to get cost.
Are laser faster printers in general?

1279706 2012-06-05 02:16:00 I've found laser printers to be faster than inkjets. Not sure if that is just the printers I've tried though. Nick G (16709)
1279707 2012-06-05 02:16:00 I think yes, isn't some of the cheap Brothers can do 18 or 24 ppm. Quiet too instead of the row by row noise and shuffling paper in of the inkjets. And the noise from the ink clean process. The text is sharper with laser, why we never had a inkjet, just got a used A3 inkjet for my photography. Never used for normal stuff, toner is cheaper too. also, what's fast, and how many pages need to be printed (else someone could quote you a 700PPM full colour roll fed machine).

1279709 2012-06-05 02:29:00 excellent question although
I don't know the range of what I am talking obviously 1ppm to 7,000ppm
so if I were to say 60 ppm full colour map

I'd say 60PPM is at the bottom of full commercial printers (read = $100K plus - that 700PPM printer btw is around $500k).

You'd probably be looking for small business < 20ppm type printers. Probably laser - again it's all volume based. Higher volumes lasers tend to be more economical, lower volumes like < 1 page a day) inkjet.
