21223 2001-10-13 08:26:00 I have a Cnet 56k modem that always shows 115.2bps when I am connected to the net. It used to show as 52.000bps when I was using Windows 98 SE. I have heard that there is a way to make it show the true connect speed, but I can't find the article on the net that I read it in before. I am using Windows 2000 Prof and have a 566 Celeron @ 850 1 gig of ram and 20 gig h/d Any help would be appreciated. Guest (0)
21224 2001-10-13 09:06:00 115,200 is the computer to port speed (very common among older computers) what has changed about your computer to make the figure change? new hardware? Guest (0)
21225 2001-10-13 09:15:00 Hi,try going to control panel/modem/properties/connection/advanced and in the 'extra settings' box type W2.This works for most modems to tell the modem to show connection speed,as opposed to port speed.
Hope this helps

21226 2001-10-13 09:22:00 Hi Dylan, The computer is one I built myself, an FIC FB11 m/b thats about 12 months old, haven't added anything new since I put it together. (except more ram) It always used to show 52.000bps but since I changed to Win 2000 it now stays at 115.2. I used to dual boot to both Win98 and Win 2000 but now have stayed with 2000 as its more stable. Thanks for the quick reponse.

Regards Fred

21228 2002-10-02 09:44:00 Hey guys - I've got this same problem with a Rockwell 56K internal modem. It always shows connection at 115K The W2 trick doesn't work for me - any other thoughts from anyone?

21231 2002-10-04 09:44:00 Worked when I tried it a second time - in lower case, probably just some glitch though. Great advice!
