21666 2001-10-16 22:55:00 What does everyone think? in my mind its way better than the slow 5.5 and better with the new cookie features and picture re-sizer. Guest (0)
21667 2001-10-17 00:51:00 Only noticeable difference, for me anyway, are:
Launches much quicker
Opens a new brower when clicking on the 'Quick links' which is annoying sometimes
Can't access certain sites because of 'improved' security - blank pages appears. I've remedied that by putting those site on the 'Trusted Sites' list instead of manually toying around with the security settings.
Media bar or panel being integrated instead of it having to run WMP 7.1 seperately.
Those are among the major differences I've noticed. I'm sure other people will have noticed other things.

21668 2001-10-17 02:48:00 Hi Josh,
I loaded it over 5.5 and dont have any complaints at all really, it seems smoother in loading pages, etc. If I was to be supercritical I might say that 5.5 may have been a smidge quicker
cheers,
Bob

21669 2001-10-17 04:24:00 I dislike the way the toolbars (back buttons, links etc) change from a slight orangy grey, to a bluey gray. Guest (0)
21670 2001-10-17 04:53:00 far better than IE5 and 5.5... its a lot quicker, and its NEVER crashed on me, which I couldn't come close to saying about the other two :) Guest (0)
21671 2001-10-17 08:18:00 Where did you all get it from? Off the PC World CD or did you download it from Microsoft? Guest (0)
21672 2001-10-18 09:08:00 Agree with most except:
1. Now I can't use 'remember password' on internet dial-up (Greyed out box; and
2. When I press the 'down arrow' on the address box, the whole thing freezes...

Thoughts or fixes anyone?

21673 2001-10-18 09:14:00 The dial-up save password function requries you to have a Windows log on (A start up password) so it can activate the windows networking client (i was told this by Netguide magazine), so make sure you have a start up password. As for the freezing - do you have enough ram? maybe set the temp. internet files folder to 1 meg so it doesnt have to load lots of history? try that and see if that works. Guest (0)
21674 2001-10-20 04:03:00 I removed it after twice (within the first 2 days) having it shutdown on me saying it had a 'problem' and do I want to send a report to Microsoft - f**k them, I say, get it right then release it! Guest (0)
