21892	2001-10-18 22:24:00	I wish to increase the ammount of RAM on my computer. It is: P111 450 MH 100mh Bus made Nov 99 BX6 Motherboard ( Intel 440BX chipset ) Presently 64MB RAM Has 4 168 pin Dimm sites for memory expansion The memory array is 64 or 72 bits wide The modules can be populated in any order Supports single and double density DIMMS Has a total memory capasity of 1GB I would like to increase the RAM to either 128 or 256MB Problem: How do I determine the correct type of RAM to use? The manual says that it supports SDRAM, but there are apparently 2 types of SDRAM ie: standard and registered (something) RAM chips, with the registered type being almost 3 times the price of the standard type. I have been told by one computer person that their experience with the 440 chipset is that only the dearer registered type worked with these motherboards. The computer manufacturer is no longer in business so I can't call him for help. Hoping that you can help me. Many thanks Scott Mills	Guest (0)
21893	2001-10-18 22:50:00	just pop down to your local shop and get yourself some standard pc133 sdram. registered ram is not required. just be aware you MIGHT get incompatability between the new and old ram.	Guest (0)
21894	2001-10-19 01:38:00	I've got a BX based motherboard and it works fine with the normal PC133 SDRAM that is sold everywhere. The PC133MHz will clock down to PC100Mhz to match your system. My current mix is: Siemens PC100 64mb + PQI PC133 64mb + Hyundai (SP?) PC133 128mb You may have to put the biggest stick in the first slot if you have problems.	Guest (0)
