21835 2001-10-18 06:48:00 Is there any way to completely remove this from
my system and then reinstall?

I am using Win98 and was on
wmp v6.0. Whenever I tried to
install v7.1, something went
wrong and I can neither remove it or, whenever trying
to reinstall, it seems to copy all the files OK but then comes up with setup has failed, please check your connection, network etc.

Seems nothing I can do to get
it to work again. Thanks for
any help or suggestions!

21836 2001-10-18 07:14:00 Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs, click Windows Media Player 7, and then click Change/Remove.
In the Windows Media Components Setup dialog box, make sure the Remove Windows Media Components option is selected, and then click Next.
In the Windows Media Components Setup dialog box, scroll down the list, select the Windows Media Player check box, and then click Next.

21838 2001-10-18 09:59:00 Thanks but that doesn't
work either.

I always get an 'has caused an illegal
operation and will be shut
down' message part the way
through running the wmp7 uninstaller.

21839 2001-10-18 10:03:00 Thanks but no luck with this
either. Downloaded the full
installer (around 11MB) for
version 7.1.

It installs and seems to copy
all the files fine. But I always am informed that the
setup has failed before the
final required reboot.
