| 22081 | 2001-10-20 12:14:00 | I am thinking about getting a sub woofer for my new PC... The problem is I don't know anyone who has one hooked up, so I can't compare the sound quality.... Are they worth the money, and can anyone recommend a half decent brand / model | Guest (0) | ||

If you have a sound card with a 5.1 output (6 channel output), then you can get a standalone sub. Things to look for in a sub are: max power output and freq range (ideally it should go as low as 20Hz but 30-40Hz would suffice). But if your sound card has only 4 speaker output, then you should get a speaker system with a sub - eg two satelites plus sub, or four satelites plus sub. The reason being the input to the sub goes via the fron satelite speakers instead of coming directly off the soundcard. |
