22220 2001-10-21 23:21:00 i was wondering if it is worthwhile placing a small 20cm table fan next to my computer to blow air at it with the cover off.
anyone tried it?? i dont know what might happen if i do.

22221 2001-10-22 00:03:00 Computer cooling is MUCH more effictive with the cover on. The air flow is much more effictive through an enclosed space. If you take the hose off your vaccume cleaner it becomes hopeless at the job it's inteneded for. If you need to improve cooling add another fan inside the case. Guest (0)
22222 2001-10-22 01:33:00 yes it works. 'if all esle fails use brute force' ;-)

what is your cpu and case temps?? anything overclocked??

all the airflow in the world isn't going to make up for a poor heatsink and crappy thermal paste. you would be beter off desighning a better cooling solution. it would be cooler and QUIETER.

22223 2001-10-22 01:39:00 How about modifying a small fridge and putting your computer in there with its cover off?

I bet that'll keep things real cool.

Or perhaps a freezer??! Might improve the circuitry by keeping the temperature real low and hence lower resistance.

Or maybe try the water cooling system. Now that's real cool!! (eg the Senfu colling system)

22224 2001-10-22 01:52:00 fridge works ok. though moister is a bit of a prob, silca gel can fix that that. thou watch it dosn't get to cold, it can get a little unstable. great for overclocking plus it keeps all the cards nice and frosty.

22225 2001-10-22 03:55:00 Has anybody designed a cooling system using Freon or something similar like that used in refrigeration systems? You could rig it around the computer case just like a fridge. Then you'll have the 'coolest' PC in town!! Guest (0)
22226 2001-10-22 07:30:00 Yeah....I got one..Is a Vapour Chill case.Imported from the states..The refridgeration evaporator is attached to the cpu and keeps it at -14....
anyone beat that?
