| 22335 | 2001-10-23 06:55:00 | Enough with the HTML already people. Anyway, the first thing I would recomend it to get a more recent copy of Mandrake (MK8.0 takes up less room than 7.2). When I set up my network card with 8.0 I was immediatly able to ping other computers, so I didn't need to do anything else. To set your IP address use Mandrake Control Center, under Network & Internet, Connection. Select eth0, press Configure and follow the wizard. If 7.1 doesn't have it, then run NetConf. You can access NetConf by runing Configuration /Networking /NetConf from the menu. Then press the 'Hostname and IP network devices' button and select the adapter 1 tab (it may be adapter 2 if you have a modem setup). Enter your IP (turn off DHCP/BOOTP if you don't use it, otherwise it will 'navelgaze' waiting to be assigned an IP), and set your hostname if you want. Then press apply/dismiss to close netconf (press 'Do it' if it prompts you about anything). You may need to logout of X for any hostname changes to take affect. |
