| 22411 | 2001-10-23 22:43:00 | I've installed M8.0 as the only OS on an old AMD K6 box. Mostly works except for the 'generic' modem on COM3 (not a winmodem, as the instructions allow for a DOS implementation?). There are no details shown for it on the KDE Systems window. In kppp I get 'The modem does not respond'. Nowhere on the card or instructions does it say who makes it so it's impossible to match it to the Supported HW list at Mandrake. DSE and Corpcons don't sell any modems on the 'good' list. Any ideas? | Guest (0) | ||

| 22413 | 2001-10-24 00:30:00 | If the DOS instructions involve loading a driver for it, then its still a winmodem. Some of the earlier winmodems included DOS drivers. Do you know what chipset it is based on? |

The W3.1 and DOS instructions only mention the fax/comms software. The biggest chip on the card has the Rockwell symbol and the codes RCVDL56ACFW/SP, R6761-22, Rockwell 97, 9729 B40207-3. |
