| 22556 | 2001-10-25 04:48:00 | When I open a new document I want the default setting to always be 'Page Layout'. How can I can force this to happen for every document?? |

| 22557 | 2001-10-25 07:37:00 | Good question. My new documents always show the Page Layout view and I presume that this is set via the normal.dot template which stores all the info for new documents. Two things to try: 1. Open a new document, set the page up how you want it, ie Page View, font, etc. Now go to File, Page Setup and click on Default. Click on Yes to save to normal.dot If this doesn't work, try this: 2. Do a search for normal.dot and take note of where it is on your hard drive. Now open a new document in Word, set the page up how you want it, ie Page View, font, etc and then Save As normal.dot in the location where the original is now. Click 'yes' to overwrite the original. Good luck! |

| 22559 | 2001-10-25 23:02:00 | Thanks for the comments Susan. I guess I should have made it clear that my main problem is with existing Word docs that have been sent to me. During a day I would receive 30 or more and when I open them I want them to open automatically into Page view. Once this did happen but now they seem to open in a range of views which is a pain. I tried editing the normal.dot but didn't help I'm sorry to say! |
