22653 2001-10-26 07:19:00 How does one set up Windows ME and particularly Outlook Express so that new applications and windows within applications are already maximised as they open? i.e without having to click the maximise button in the top right corner of the window. I've had the same issue with OE5.5 and OE6.0. Guest (0)
22654 2001-10-26 10:12:00 In OE and IE you can use the tile options on the quick launch taskbar(the icons beside the START button). Right click on a part of this taskbar that is free of any icons and play with the 2 tile options until you get what you want. Close the program and then restart and with a bit of luck the windows will open maximised. Sorry, I did this so long ago I can't remember the correct sequence.

Also right click on your desktop shortcuts and then click on PROPERTIES and make sure the RUN window shows MAXIMISED.

22655 2001-10-27 00:11:00 Thanks for your suggestions. Re the first one - the tiling buttons, that doesn't seem to provide the view I desire (a maximised window every time on opening)

Re right clicking on the desktop icon as suggested that won't work either as it says the programme is locked (whether on not it is actually running) and won't let me apply the change.
Going next to the actual aaplication tself the maximise option doesn't appear to be in the normal menu structure.

Help..........

22656 2001-10-27 07:49:00 I think this is the sequence for using the tile method .

Quote:

. . . open IE as you normally would, which means it will be that small window that won't go away . Now right-click on the 'Start' Task Bar and choose Tile Windows Horizontally and this will expand IE to full-screen . Now disconnect from the Internet leaving your IE Window open . Next close the IE Window you left open .

This trick also works for the 'Open Link In New Window' Menu option . Open IE as you normally would, then do 'Open Link in New Window' . Close the Original Full-screen IE window, now right-click on 'Start' Task Bar and choose 'Tile Windows Horizontally' . Now disconnect from the Internet leaving the IE Window Open . Close window after disconnecting .

22657 2001-10-27 08:23:00 Sorry - BO - neither of those worked and now Excel opens with a minimised window. Bugger. Guest (0)
