22614 2001-10-25 23:01:00 I am writting a formal document and would like to auto number the figures using the style Figure 1-2 (where 1 is the chapter number and 2 is the figure number in that chapter). Word 2000 does not seem to be capable of this and will only auto number 1,2,3, etc. How can I set this up or do I have to do it manually? Guest (0)
22615 2001-10-26 00:20:00 Hi. Try... Go Insert, Caption, AutoCaption, Numbering and tick the Include Chapter Number box. Guest (0)
22616 2001-10-26 00:24:00 Format - Bullets And Numbering... - Outline Numbering - third one on the top. Tab in for 1.1, 1.1.1 etc. Guest (0)
22617 2001-10-26 00:25:00 Word 2000 can most definitely do as you wish, but you will need to delve into the mysteries of the SEQ field to achieve it. Begin by numbering your chapters using this field (Insert - Field - Numbering - SEQ). For example 'SEQ ChaptNum' where ChaptNum is the sequence identifier. Then number your figures using SEQ ChaptNum /c. The /c switch suppresses incrementing the sequence and will therefore display the number of the current chapter. Good luck. Guest (0)
