Access may be awkward and to prevent damage to the battery holder make sure that cables are out of the way and you can get to it. The design of the holder varies a bit, but you will see a spring clip holding the battery down, and at the end of that the holder may have a bit of springy plastic you can push down to allow the battery to slide out. The cheapest replacement can be bought from The Warehouse for about $4.95, the number is CR2032. If the battery is soldered on the board, its a different ball game, in that case respond to this posting and the details can be given to replace it. |

| 22929 | 2001-10-29 10:24:00 | When I changed the battery in my old machine, I wrote down my BIOS settings prior to the operation, but surprise surprise, they kindly stayed intact while under anaesthetic. I kept the machine plugged in, but switched off -- maybe that's why? Don't forget the anti-static wrist strap. |

It explains a lot about the battery, timekeeping, and CMOS reliance on battery, plus precautions to take when changing battery etc. It is well worth a visit. Here it is: www.smartcomputing.com 6l11%2F56l11%2Easp |
