| 22782 | 2001-10-27 20:01:00 | I had a prerelease version of Windows XP which I uninstalled to reveret back to W98se, I now get a dual boot message on start up giving me the choice of either W98 or XP and XP is the default, even though this is no longer installed. I have tried removing any reference to XP from the 'boot.ini' file and when i do that I get the error message '<windows root> system32\hal.dll' file is missing or corrupt, please reinstall? Can anyone help, the team at Microsoft seem to be stumped on this, but they are looking for a solution. Would appreciate some comments, thanks. |
