| 23115 | 2001-10-30 12:00:00 | Here are a couple of comments re Press F1: 1) I like the way a posting starts off dark blue, turns red when clicked on, and finally ends up light blue. I guess the following is impossible or impractical, but it would be very good if the numbers in the responses column could act in the same way, except that as additional responses are made, each new number changes back to dark blue again until it has been further accessed and read. This would enable a quick look down the list to see if any numbers have changed colour, indicating that there have been more responses since the last viewing. If the number column can't be dealt with in that way, could the main heading be reactivated again to dark blue to indicate that there is more unread material?. 2) I made my first posting this month, and as a newbie found a few things a little confusing. Nothing major though, and I must say that I just love the site! Learning heaps!! Would it be practical to have an area for first timers to click on to get info about how to post etc.? Things such as; do you have to enter your first and last names; are those the names that will appear in the posting column or is it just a type of first time registration; if desired you can use a nickname or initials, lots do it; If you do use your real name who is to know that it is really you (Tweak'e put me wise to that); do you have to enter your e-mail address; typing all capital letters is considered shouting; what happens when you click on 'Post' to send it, does it go straight to the listing or does it go somewhere else to be checked for suitability first; who are the people who do most of the replies; are any of them on a roster system or are they just ordinary helpful citizens; etc, etc. All in all, Press F1 is an excellent site! | 23117 | 2001-10-30 14:24:00 | hi LL most of the forum sites i vist have a few extras. 'not read' message for those post that you havn't read. a listing of how many people have read that post. newest post or newest post with reply goes to the top of the page. the bigger forums run split screens so you can scroll through the posts as well as the replys at the same time. that saves heaps of time when going through hundreds of postings. cool stuff like smilys ;-) and basic html so you can change colour, size, add links(no more copy and paste) pics etc however one catch22, if you make it too featured it will confuse half the newbies this site is geared for. |
