23071 2001-10-30 07:08:00 Try this
www.milori.com

I think VBS Defender is just change your file associated in your windows. It doesn't install anything into your computer. It is more like change your computer setting.

23072 2001-10-30 07:38:00 Assuming you don't actually need VBS/JS scripting then just disable it.

Just goto into C:\WINDOWS and rename Wscript.exe to Wscript.exe.bak

Then go into C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND and rename Cscript.exe to Cscript.exe.bak.

This will stop scripts from being able to be executed.

Unfortunatly just removing 'Windows Scripting Host' from add/remove programs doesn't work and the file associations seem to get reset.

Have found the site but have been unable to download the file. Keep getting message 'unable to find server'?
Will try again later.

I have only average ability with computers and no real experience with DOS commands
[I am assuming your instructions relate to DOS entries.]and would need some further help in stepping through the changes you have suggested.
I do not do programming so can see no requirement to have visual basic script available. Presumably de-activating it will not affect any other existing programmes or applications?

23075 2001-10-30 22:30:00 Hello Peter,

If you wish to run VBS defender, you must have the required Visual Basic runtime files, (Download them as a single exe file, that just requires double clicking to execute from the following link)
The VBS defender utility is a type of antivirus, it changes various attributes and registry settings used by VBS worm viruses.
I recommend you get the runtime files regardless of running VBS Defender or not as there are quite a few utilities you may choose to install later that will probably need them.

23076 2001-10-31 01:00:00 Hello Alan
Many thanks for your reply.
I went to http://dllstar.hypermart.net/
the site has now consolidated with a second site and has a new address at http://www.uforesources.com
The Visual basic runtimes files are still downloadable from the old site but other DLL's are at the new site.
VBS Defender is now installed and active.
Regards
Peter
