| 1282253 | 2012-06-17 09:17:00 | Hi there guys, My flatmate's old HP a6340a desktop computer, acting funky: Core 2 Dual processor (don't know what exactly) 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1GB) Radeon HD5450 graphics card 500GB Seagate HDD Windows Vista what it is actually doing once it gets turned on: CPU fan goes, case fan goes, DVD drive light blinks for a few times No display About 3 seconds later, everything gets shut off Wait another 3 seconds, turns itself back on again The process repeats, until you long press the power button to shut it down. No beeps can be heard during the process. What I have done so far: Brand new power supply (guaranteed to work properly), didn't help. Booting without DVD drive, didn't help. Booting with just 1 RAM stick at a time, didn't help. out of frustration, I pulled both RAM sticks out (booted without RAMs), exactly the same symptom...:badpc: Any ideas? it seems to me that both RAM sticks are gone..or perhaps it is something worst?? any recommendations will be greatly appreciated :D |

But before doing anything more, make sure that ALL unneccessary USB devices are disconnected - all thumb drives, all external drives, and give it another try. Then try without the graphics card. With luck the mobo will have a built in alternative graphics system, which you might have to activate via the BIOS. |
