1282065 2012-06-16 08:28:00 Im a newbie when it comes to overclocking.

I just changed my FSB to 105 mhz from 100 to crank up my CPU and RAM, this got me up to 7.9 for the RAM (WEI)

I also changed the Turbo Boost multiplier from 38 to 43 giving me around 4.5ghz.

Then ran a Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test for 30 minutes and the max temperature was 62 degrees.
Idle temps are about 17-25

Is this safe? I have a Engineering sample CPU so i was worried about the sensors not working (dont ask how i got it :S)

The core voltage comes up as 1.30v max in CPUID and Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for some reason it comes up as 1.381v in a different program.

1282066 2012-06-16 08:45:00 No chip overclocks the same. Because you have an engineering sample cpu you have basically no way of getting an idea of what the chip can and cant do. I'd turn off the turbo boost and just use the bios for Oc-ing. icow (15313)
1282067 2012-06-16 12:09:00 also the coolign you have plays a factor as it has to keep in acceptable temp... hyper 212 evo will be fine for an average persons overclocking i can easily oc my 2500k to 1.5ghz higher than stock Slankydudl (16687)

1282069 2012-06-16 21:27:00 H50 is one of those closed loop liquid cooling ones right? How do you plan to mod it? Slankydudl (16687)

1282071 2012-06-17 11:06:00 that is kinda odd... ur really just adding some nice looking lights and a res but with the same performance aside from the fact that your coolant is probably better and has more time to cool down in the res or you could somhow include a better pump i nthe loop as the h50's one is kinda crap. your better off going fully custom if you want it to be better performance wise and looks wise. But i know that can get real expensive real fast when you start looking for even decent products. Slankydudl (16687)
1282072 2012-06-17 22:18:00 I wouldnt be changing the BLCK or FSB as you called it....The bus is prone to instability and max is around 105.....you dont need to clock 5mhz x multi when you have an unlocked SKU.....Just use the multiplier to clock, and watch the voltage...looks like you have a little droop from the screenshots.. 1282073 2012-06-18 08:01:00 thanks for the replys, apparently temps were down "Temps are down by quite alot.
Stock H50 with push pull

Load = 55'c

Modded H50 Push pull

Load = 36'c

Thats with all mods the mods i've done."
and the h50 is apparently the same performance as ur Hyper 212 evo CPU cooler or very close.

1282074 2012-06-18 09:36:00 yeah its a good comparison to the 212 but is better in the fact that its not pumping heat into your case but instead out of the case. Slankydudl (16687)
