1258865 2012-02-14 18:17:00 Many of my bad posts were posted when i was very down and depressed. I am a far better person than many of my posts make me out to be.

For all members here. From now, i wish to start a clean slate. Just forget all the crap that has come out of my keyboard.

Don't fret it man. It's only the pedants who will have any lasting idea of your old posts, and frankly, who cares about the pedantics, coz they live for the chance to put you in your place.

Anyway, aside from that, this guy with the laptop had hollow tipped bullets.
These are not 'self defense' bullets. Theses are for killing. What the hell does an IT guy in the USA need with a handgun and hollow tipped (body ripping) bullets?

Very glad to live in NZ, where the average gun nut only rarely shoots possum and rabbits, and sees no need to use ammo that turns the prey into a red mist.
I'd hate to live where every second person on the street might be packing. Way too many nuts in society as well for that degree of gun ownership to ever be safe.

1258866 2012-02-14 19:46:00 That makes more sense. Your other post came across like you were just spoiling your son. It's nice to know writing etc.. is just as important

:annoyed:

I may come across as a dick in some of my posts, but i am just as intellegent as many others here, i just need to be less opinionated, and need to learn to write more apropriatly to bring my points across in a none dickhead way. I just need to show it more. Many of my bad posts were posted when i was very down and depressed. I am a far better person than many of my posts make me out to be.

Fair enough I guess, we all make mistakes.

A little advice however, take it as you will. It is always best to speak from experience

I have to disagree squire, if you are going to shoot at something live you might as well do the job properly. Solid bullets or non soft nose are only used by the mil as they are limited by the Geneva convention. Seen a possum take buku hits with 22 solids and still not die.
Police have no such qualms they use soft nose to splatter crooks who deserve it anyway.
I am pro gun and hope we can have gun laws like the USA its the only thing I admire them for.

1258868 2012-02-15 06:13:00 You make a good point. It's probably more humane when hunting to use a bullet that will finish the job by imparting a lot of damage on the way through.

However, I still would like to think that any gun carried for self defense against other humans should be used with the aim of distracting the assailant with considerable pain, rather than with the aim of killing or maiming them, in which case a solid projectile to the thighs is more desirable than a hollow tip to the abdomen or the head.

The number of accidental shooting deaths to children in the USA numbers over 20,000 PER YEAR!

Allowing Joe Average to carry a gun loaded with hollow tips is probably not helping to save any of those kids.

I didn't realise it was as high as that but I think you will find the majority of those will be guns not secured properly. Should not be a problem here.
