1282439 2012-06-18 10:33:00 i havent changed any settings on his laptop.

when he got the laptop, all i put in was the current wireless password and that's it

only been connected to the new router since we got it

1282440 2012-06-18 21:19:00 Then on his laptop click Start --> run --> cmd:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

That should tell it to go get a new DHCP lease, and if you can see a DHCP lease for everything else on the network except his laptop currently, then there is no reason for the router to give out a conflicting one.

1282441 2012-06-18 21:32:00 i'll try that when i can log on, thanks GameJunkie (72)
1282442 2012-06-18 21:34:00 what about reinstall the firmware and reboot to factory? GameJunkie (72)
1282443 2012-06-18 22:36:00 Nope, pointless. It's almost guaranteed to be a client config issue somewhere if you're getting IP Address conflicts. Chilling_Silence (9)
1282444 2012-06-18 22:37:00 ok, well when i can log in, i'll try the cmd prompt stuff GameJunkie (72)
1282445 2012-06-18 23:04:00 just tried the first cmd prompt but i get the following: "no operation can be performed on wireless network connection while it has its media disconnected. no operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected" GameJunkie (72)
1282446 2012-06-19 00:00:00 Right-click on it and tell it to "repair" the connection. Chilling_Silence (9)
