1259473 2012-02-16 23:29:00 ...use Google tranlate to convert it to a rare language and hope they spend time trying to translate it.
Spammers know about Google Translate too... and it works both ways.

1259474 2012-02-16 23:37:00 ... but sometimes I cant help it and copy a long piece from somwhere, use Google tranlate to convert it to a rare language and hope they spend time trying to translate it.

:badpc:
congratulations.
the best you will acheive is confirm to the spammer your email adress is valid & receiving spam
So expect some priority spamming from now.

Most likey, your reply email will NEVER get back to the spammer. It may go to some poor sod whose email has been spoofed by the spammer or spambots

:)

NEVER reply to spam.
Never open or read spam
there may be a nasty surprise(virus) waiting for you in the spam email

while Im at it
dont open or read joke emails , they may have a nasty surprise virus in them
Dont send joke emails off in bulk to your contacts (they probably dont want them)

1259475 2012-02-16 23:57:00 To add to that list....

Idiots who send jokes with bulk emailing usually don't use Bcc, thus every single idiot you send the email to will be able to get everyone else's email address

If just ONE of those people has a compromised account or computer, you have basically just set EVERYONE on the list up to receive spam.

1259476 2012-02-16 23:59:00 You don't - the whole idea is that it's a temporary receive-only mailbox that only lasts for a few minutes.

It's intended for things like sites that require an email address to sign up (activation emails etc), but you don't want to give them a real address. This lets you receive the emails without needing to worry about being spammed in the future.

Most of the type of thing to which you refer usually send and email in reply to make sure it is you!

By which time it has gone.

I can't actually think of *any* service I've signed up for like that which required you to actually send them an email and wait for a manual response from the site admin.

1259478 2012-02-17 01:58:00 At the moment I have one address that I use to bait spammers and to sign up to dodgy sites to watch what happens. The more spams I get the more I am entertained. Whats the harm in that?
So far very little extra spam and no viruses that I am aware of. I am disappointed.

1259479 2012-02-17 02:28:00 I have a separate Gmail address that is used only for the purpose of signing up to stiff, entering competitions and so on. It doesn't download to my Outlook and is used purely in the browser, I never give it out to friends or contacts either. But now I know about 10 minute mail I might use that in the future too gary67 (56)

x2 That's what I use my Gmail address for. Thanks for the steer to 10 minute mail - I hadn't heard of it until now - I'll give it a go.
