1259265 2012-02-15 22:41:00 OK, guy wearing " only a light T-shirt and underpants" wandering around with a GUN

And yes, recently a cop was KILLED with air gun.

Air pistols & air rifles can no longer be considered toys & sold to anyone & their kids. These things can kill. They should need a full gun license to own one.
Ive had my neighbours kid firing his air pistol at my house . When that happens, you perception of these 'toys' changes.

1259266 2012-02-15 23:36:00 Personally I think if you find yourself wielding a pistol, real or not, and a baseball bat in the vicinity of an armed squad deployment, you have done very well to still be capable of moaning about your treatment afterwards. 'Daft old bugger has a bloody lucky escape' would be a more appropriate headline as I see it.

1259267 2012-02-15 23:44:00 Yep, he was a silly old fool and could have got himself shot. And even if he had found who he was after he probably would have been overpowered and who knows what would have happened.

But once the Police had control of the situation their Rambo antics were pathetic and impossible to justify, although I bet some will.

Even the Crown Law Office is laughing at these wanabe Rambo’s.

1259268 2012-02-16 00:13:00 Soon as I heard his Englander accent gave up on him, nutcase whinging pom.
If you come to NZ you need to abide by our laws. If you dont like the laws or the treatment he and his englander wife can go home because no doubt they kept their englander passport.

1259269 2012-02-16 00:17:00 Police obviously erred on the side of caution as they are trained to do.

He may have been a harmless old man but the police need to act accordingly when they see an armed man wandering around.

I would hope that the facts come out after an inquiry.

1259270 2012-02-16 01:36:00 The guy was an idiot.

What we are not allowed to do, "is protect our property".

Sadest thing that happened in September 2010, was rejecting the offer from the US Marines in Hawaii to police/protect property from being vandalised and goods stollen.

These b***ards are still able to get away with it, even taking the opportunity to sleep in the vacated red zone houses while wearing hi viz jackets.

Cops always pick on the oldies, makes them look like rambos alright.

Lurking.

1259271 2012-02-16 03:52:00 So they jumped him cause of his weapons.
Then once they got him down, in undies mentioning his pacemaker, it was necessary to grind him into the ground and generally act like bullies?

They have an attitude. Some have more of an attitude than others.

I know for a fact they did something similar to an unarmed pregnant teen who was in their custody already and doing nothing more than stand in a room.

I'm a pom. Between my wife and I, we brought 2 skilled trades, one of which was, and still is on the priority shortage list. We brought well over half a million dollars into the country, had a house built and spent the lot on building it and equipping it, all using local services and contributing to the local economy. I dare say 'poms' like us have contributed a great deal more to this country than a great many people that were born here. Posts like that make me glad we're going back, and even more glad that we're going to take it all back with us. In fact, I'm so weary of this whole 'whinging pom' and the general nastiness that I'll give you something to moan about. I hereby commit to loading up my credit card, right to the top with unsecured debt, just before I leave. You get to pay a little more for your credit to cover the loss, and I get to live up to the low opinion you seem to have of me.
Enjoy.

Hmmmm, seems like you are possibly a dork as well (thin-skinned variety). Good luck getting credit when you get back to pommy land then, the smell of a deliberate credit default (spell that f-r-a-u-d) will follow you over oceans and continents. By all accounts the UK is no paradise these days either, and god knows, it was bad enough back whenever to encourage you to take flight to godzone.

Opinions (good or bad) are formed by peoples' perceptions of your behaviour by word or by deed.

No surprises there......

Cheers

1259274 2012-02-16 04:53:00 Dads Neigbour is an englander came out in the 1950s and has never been back.
He is the nicest bloke you will ever meet Dad is always talking about him how helpful he is to anyone who needs it.
Dad said he has cut firewood for other people for free and not had enough for himself over the winter.
There are good and bad with all nationalities but I am getting sick to death of hearing every second person in CHCH complaining about CERA being an englander. They cant be half the population in CHCH. Getting real annoyed with the accent with the Auckland Port union leaders. Cant we have NZ born union rabble rousers instead of imports?
