| 1281995 | 2012-06-16 04:37:00 | Someone asked about this recently and I have/had this problem as well. Found someone saying that putting this site:- "googleads.g.doubleclick.net" into Internet Options Sites/Sites fixes it. Seems to work for me. PS Anyone else get frustrated by the inability to search on short acronyms? An awful lot of our stuff has a short acronym in common usage. |

If you can't add anything useful, then just pass on by. Think about it positivly and take it as he's saying: "Use Chrome or Firefox until ie release an update." I used ie9 (yesterday) and thought i might try out firefox (latest version) and on my laptop, ie was horrendios to run, firefox started and loaded practically instantly. By the way our IE9 doesn't have the same problems as you, but you might be better off uninstalling or reinstalling ie and seeing if that works. If it doesn't then you might just have to swap website browsers for a while, until ie10 comes out, but i don't think you'll be disapointed with chrome or firefox (atleast i haven't :)) |

Yes, there is one computer at Seniornet that has that problem with the back button, but not all the time. I might try that "fix" on it and see if it works. We have IE 9 on all of them with Windows 7. They are also all dual booted with Win XP and IE 8. Doesn't seem to be a problem on those with IE 8. Don't know about short acronyms though. Cheers LL |

Well, if you think I'm going to pass up an opportunity to bad mouth ie then you're mistaken:lol: Anyway, take my comment like stratex5 said, as a recommendation for either chrome, firefox, or opera. |

| 1282001 | 2012-06-17 06:22:00 | For some reason this problem with IE9 and the back button is not consistent. I have had and seen the problem for many months. On some of my machines and several that I have repaired for others its an interesting challenge. I consider the problem is actually a conflict (or feature) of Google and IE9. Just as we have all had cases whereby we arrive at a website designed to capture us and cannot back out requiring closing of the tab etc, it seems google search sends you to a website and then when you press the back button it somehow flashes you back to the very site you are still on. It amused me when researching this issue a few months back that regular back button users are now double clicking to get back to the search result pages. I concur that using alternative browsers resolves the issue and adds extra benefits, but so many still use IE it would be best if Microsoft and Google could work out this bug. | PeteS (12500) | ||

| 1282003 | 2012-06-18 21:00:00 | My reflex was to pass a snarky comment about IE 9 as well, but I think a better way is to highlight a couple of reasons as to why I use Chrome: 1) Tests load and render the page 2x faster (not sure this is still the case but each time I try to load IE, it is really painful) 2) Chrome is now the most used browser, and has gaine more and more market share since they started, while IE has lost market share each month . This is often a clue as to which software is better . 3) It doesn't crash on me and just works and is more secure than IE has traditionally been . There you go, same sentiment as "You use IE :-/" except with a bit less snark . :-) |

There you go, same sentiment as "You use IE :-/" except with a bit less snark . :-) Ok, I'll do the same then . I used ie way back in 2003 . I switched to firefox because it was faster, more powerful, I found it easier to use . I kept using it because I found it better than the competition . Recently, I switched to opera . I made the switch because firefox was running slowly on my families computer (too many people using it, too many bookmarks, too many toolbars) . So, I downloaded opera . I found the addons reasonable, the menus even easier to use, and the browsing experience better than the competition . I still keep firefox around, as opera doesn't always render some web pages correctly (android forums in particular) . On my windows 8 partition I use chromes metro app, as it is the only alternative to the ie metro app, and is much more like a desktop browser . I have tried chrome, but prefer opera . |
