1466281 2020-01-27 23:28:00 Avast began asking its existing free antivirus consumers to opt-in to data collection, according to an internal document.

"If they opt-in, that device becomes part of the Jumpshot Panel and all browser-based internet activity will be reported to Jumpshot," an internal product handbook reads. "What URLs did these devices visit, in what order and when?" it adds, summarising what questions the product may be able to answer.

Although I no longer have any AV....:-)

1466283 2020-01-28 03:03:00 No really surprised, Avast couldn't stop a cold anyways ;) Seen many computers riddled who had Avast, sure NO AV will stop everything, but it shouldn't act as malware either. It also slows computers down, AND worst of all produces its own pop-ups wanting you to buy the paid version - Exactly what some malware does. wainuitech (129)

Makes me feel really good in removing it from a friends computer even though she’d just renewed the sub for the paid version....
I told her it was slowing her laptop down so much it was struggling to survive. She had thought about buying a new one, so I saved her a few hundred dollars!

1466286 2020-02-10 18:34:00 yes I am so pleased that I gave up on AVG and Avaast years ago.
They started out with good intentions.
But became evil bloatware and now spyware!
