1471688 2020-09-06 22:26:00 I don't install spyware.

Most software now has spyware .
Even windows. Even your printer. Even your new TV . Even some new cars .
We allowed this to happen by accepting it , so thats just the way everything is (with a few exceptions , for now)

It's only spyware if it can report back somewhere. For instance My printer isn't on the network, never mind the net.

Remember the entire internet is a public noticeboard and everything that passes though it.
This post for instance.
Or your emails....

but your printer drivers ARE on the network , via your PC. :p

SOME printer drivers phone home with info about what & when youve been printing. This first happened(or first detected) many years ago, and was back then labled spyware & treated as
no better than any other malware . Things have changed, its accepted as the norm now.

Even TV's have been caught recording conversions and that info was sent off to 3rd parties

Thats a good point
But its usually govt employees using this info , illegally . Thats happened quite a few times in NZ

Well said, my Canon MG6250, tells me too often "don't turn your printer off, it's sending a report".

Not game to try turning it off tho.
